-throwing babies in the air and shooting them
-trying to anhilate a whole race
-starving people to death and forcing them to live in unhealthy living conditions

He spies on Idek with a womand, and then gets beat for it. Then he meets a a French woman and sees her later in his life. Elie's father is beaten by Idek because he got in Idek's way. Three men are hung for trying to steal soup. Also, a young Pipel was hung. His soup tasted like a dead corpse.
Chapter 3
The Jews objects were taken away from them. They went through a selection and both Elie and his father lied about their ages so they were sent to the work lines instead of the death lines. They were allowed to take a shower, then right away were sent to the next camp. Elie saw his father getting beaten but he did not stand up for him. Stein Antwerp (their relative) sees them and asks about his family. Elie lies about his family and says they are ok. Eventually he finds out about them, and Elie never sees him again.
Chapter 2
The Jews were cramed into cattle cars. Mrs. Shacter would not stop yelling about the fire that she supposedly sees. The men beat her so that she will shut up. Th train stopped again in Auschwit. They then arrived in Birkenau. They can see the smoke from the crematorium.
Chapter 1
Moishe the Beadel was taken by the Germans in Sighet. He escaped and came back to warn the Jews about what was happening. Nobody believed him. Expensive valuables were taken away from them, and they had to wear the star of David. They were put into a ghetto and transeferred to another one. Then they were put into the cattle cars to be deported. This was the start of the injustices against Elie and his family.

Chapter 2 Fire/Flames
I believe that Mrs. Shaucter was emphasized in this story because she is foreshadowing what will happen to the Jews in the future. She is split up from her family which is what will happen to many Jews in the near future of this book, and she is envisioning fire. The fire can represent two different things. First, it refers to the fire and the flames that burn up the dead bodies in the crematorium. Second, it refers to all the horrendous things that will be happening to the Jews. Nobody believes her about the fire because they can't physically see it which can relate to the Jews not being able to believe what the Nazi's will do to them. They have no idea what torture they are going to face once they are in Auschwitz.

C/Q/C Harrison Bergeron
In the first paragraph of the play it states that everybody is equal in every way possible. However, there is a superior authority controlling the equality.
All this equality was due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agents of the United States Handicapper General.
The last part of this quote portrays that it is not equal. If it was equal there wouldn't be a Handicap General that controls everyone.

Quotation Sandwich 2
Claim: At the end of the short story, Tom Benecke's attitude changes from a man who only cares about work and money to a man who wants to put his family first.
Quote: "He wished, then, that he had not allowed his wife to go off by herself tonight-- and on similar nights. He thought of all the evenings he had spent away from her, working and he regretted them. He thought wonderingly of his fierce ambition and of the direction his life had taken; he thought of the hours he'd spent by himself, filling the yellow sheet that had brought him out here."
Commentary: Tom's thoughts about his past life and how he had wasted it on something so unimporant shows that he has transformed into a man who puts his family first.

Claim: In the initial pages of this short story, Tom Becnecke's avaricious nautre drives him to follow the yellow sheet of paper on the ledge of his apartment
Quote: "You won't mind though, will you, when the money comes rolling in and I'm known as the Boy Wizard of Wholesale Groceries?"
Commentary: Tom's determination to make money and become successful at his grocery store and his direct use of the word money shows that he has an avaricious nature and makes money his top priority.
